The humble petic[i]on of Alice Charles of Croston widdowe

Sheweth

That whereas yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband was slaine in the late Warrs at Bolton in his Ma[jes]ties service (and being a Feltmaker) in his life tyme maintayned himself & yo[u]r pet[itione]r very well and free from any allowance of the p[ari]sh, And since yo[u]r pet[itione]r being very old & brought to great poverty and lost her sight, soe that shee is not able to worke for her living and hath noe estate or maintenance from the p[ari]sh whereby to subsist.

The pr[e]misses Considered yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayeth that yo[u]r pet[itio]n[e]r may haue some reasonable substance to keepe her from starveing not being able to beg for releife by reason of her blindnesse

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r will dayly pray

Ch[urchwardens] & Ou[erseers] to g of whole p[ar]sh to rel[ieve]
