The petition of Alice Bradshawe of Pendleton, Lancashire (1), 23 January 1662

To the right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the peace at the Sessions holden at Manchester for the hundred of Salford. The humble Peti[ti]on of Alice Bradshawe of Pendleton widdowe
<Humbly>
<Sheweth.>
That wee the Inhabitants of Pendleton whose names are subscribed certifie: That the said Alice Bradshawe: Had her husband killed att the Northwich at S[i]r George Boothes rysinge, beinge a souldier in Capt[ain] Raphe Egertons Company: And shee left with fower Children, whereof [illegible] Two are impotent, and in any wise not able to helpe themsellues: And shee in such distreese, by reason of her house ready to fall on her head, and shee haueing nothing either to repaire itt or to releife her Children (except some charitable course be taken) Shee and her two children are in great danger to starue.
The pr[e]mises Considered That yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to pittie her sad Condic[i]on That shee may haue some reliefe, either by Lea in the p[ar]ishe or by breefe, Or by what way yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps shall in yo[u]r wisdomes thincke most fitt. And shee will {ever pray etc}
