The petition of Agnes Young of Westbury, Wiltshire, Trinity 1649

To the wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Bench
The humble petic[i]on of Agnes Young of Westbury in the County of Wilts[hire] widowe Sheweth, That about five yeares since Roger Young late husband to yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er was a souldier in ye garrison of Woodhouse Vnder the Com[m]aund of Maior Henry Wansey, and vppon resigneing of ye said Garrison S[i]r Francis Doddington (yt bloudie tirant) hanged yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]ers said husband w[i]th 13 souldiers more of ye said garrison as may appeare by the peticio[n]ers petic[i]on to ye hon[oura]ble Comittee confirmed w[i]th the hands of divers of the most substantiall Inhabitants of Westbury aforesaid by reason whereof ye peticio[n]er & three five small Children are like without intermission to perish through want
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps (according to an Ordinance of p[ar]liam[en]t: die Veneris 28o of May 1647) to order for reliefe of ye petic[i]o[n]er & her 5 small children as shall seeme meet in yo[u]r wor[shi]pps wisedomes & (as in duty bound) they shall ever pray
