The petition of Abraham Doble of Plymtree, Devon, 1663

To the Wor[shipfu]ll his Majesties Justices of the peace for the County of Devon, nowe assembled in the Castle of Exon,
The humble petic[i]on of Abraham Doble of Plimptree in the said County of Devon,
Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petitc[i]oner is and ever hath been a most loyall and obedient Subject both vnto his late pious nowe ever glorious Majesty with the Lord and vnto his most Sacred Majesty that nowe is, And was a Souldier in his said late Ma[jes]ties Army vnder the Comaund of Capt[ain] John Sprye in the Regiment of Collonell Richard Arundell as by a Certificate ready to be shewen vnto yo[u]r wor[shi]pps will appeere, In which his service he demeaned himselfe faithfully as a Souldier ought to doe, and received severall wounds in his body, whereby hee is growne infirme and not able to worke for his mainetynance but must of necessity come to misery vnlesse yo[u]r wor[shi]pps be mercifully pleased to helpe him,
In tender considerac[i]on whereof yo[u]r petic[i]oner doth most humbly beseech yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to graunt him that penc[i]on or Stipend which his most Sacred Ma[jes]tie is pleased to allowe vnto poore wounded and maymed Souldiers in yo[u]r petic[ione]rs condic[i]on And your peticoner as in duty bound shall ever pray &c
