The petition of 15 poor pensioners of Wiltshire and elsewhere, 4 April 1665

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y’]s Justic[e]s of Peace at the gen[er]all Quarter Sessions of the Peace holden at the Devizes Aprill iiiith 1665.

The humble Petic[i]on of the poore Penc[i]oners whose names are here vnderwritten.

Humbly sheweth, That whereas one halfe yeares Pay is behinde to yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs of theire Penc[i]on & to some of them more.

And whereas the Mr Escott being the old Treasurer, is out of his office, And Mr Poole being the newe Treasurer for the North p[ar]te of this Countie is not come to this pr[e]sent Sessions, and (as yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs are informed) he intendeth not to come. And yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs many of them doe live farre off, & have not money to pay theire charges here, nor to bring them home.

Yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs humbly pray yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to be pleased to cause that theire arreres may be now paid vnto them.

And yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs shall ever pray for yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps health & happynesse &c
