Noted that Steane had lived 'honestly carefully and Laboriously among his neighbours' in Brinklow. During his military service for Charles I, 'his Chinne was shott off and alsoe a greate part of his under iawe which disables him for receiveing any foode, but only liquid things and that by the helpe of an other'. He was also now elderly and unable to work. It was therefore ordered that he be paid 12 d. weekly by the Brinklow Overseers of the Poor.
