The pension was to begin at the next sessions. Sleight was pressed into royalist service. He served under the command of Captain ‘Colley’ [possibly Captain Richard Coleby]. He took part in the siege of Hull, and also served in York and other places in the North. He had been constant and faithful, and had received divers wounds in his body, which had prevented him from working. The petition was endorsed by ‘the better sort of the inhabitants of the said parish of Solby’.
