fol. 75: Upon a certificate from Sir Francis Clerke and George May Esq., JPs, showing that William Meare of Cowling, cordwainer, was at the siege of Colchester in 1648 under the command of Captain William Gooteer and there received a wound in his leg, whereby he is no longer able to maintain his family, and he was also very old, it was ordered that Meare be paid a pension of 40 s. a year.
