‘Forasmuch as William Burrall of Winslow in this County Butcher William Leaver the Elder of Aylesbury in the said County Pinmaker & Jeremy Gallant of great Missenden admitted form[er]ly to seu[er]all penc[i]ons of 40 s. yearly out of the County stock have seu[er]ally exhi[bi]ted Petic[i]ons to this Court this p[re]sent Sessions wherein for reasons suggested they have respectively prayed to have their p[re]sent penc[i]ons Augmented w[hi]ch this Court absolutely refused. But in respect they have now satisfyed this Court that they are each of them under very great want and their familyes unable to subsist without some charitable bounty to enable them.’ The Clerk of the Peace was ordered to pay ‘out of Mr Anthony Ratcliffs money in his hands’ 20 s. to each of them. ‘And it was 'further ordered that no other petic[i]ons of this nature shalbe read or regarded before Micha[elma]s sessions 1698.’
