‘Upon the petic[i]on of William Leaver the elder of Aylesbury in this County to this Court this p[re]sent Sessions therein setting forth That in considerac[i]on of his service & sufferings in the Late Civill Warrs in the tyme of his most sacred Maj[es]tie King Charles the first hee had beene allowed by this Court out of the County stock a penc[i]on of Forty shillings p[er] ann[um] which had beene constantly paide to him to his Greate Comfort & support That hee is now Eighty yeares of age & upwards & is become very Feeble & almost Blind & thereby rend[e]red helplesse poore and a further object of the Christian Charity & therefore prayed that his penc[i]on might be Augmented. Whereupon this Court takeing into theire Considerac[i]on the Case & Circumstances of the said William Leaver & being satisfyed of the truth of the Allegac[i]on in his petic[i]on.’ The court agreed to the increase of his pension from £2 to £4 per annum.
