‘Upon the humble peticon of the parishioners of the parish of Ormside, settinge forth thereby that one William Jackson was formerly A soldier A longe time in his late Ma[jes]ties service. And by reason of his Old Age and Wounds w[hi]ch he rec[eive]d he was disabled to serve any longer. And that the said William Jackson is now fallen both blind and Lame. And is laid upon the Parish of Ormside, Itt is therefore Ordered that tenn shillings be p[ai]d him as A Gratuity.’
