‘The Treasurer for the maymed souldiers of this County is hereby ordered to pay vnto William Jackman of Milton Abbott who was maymed in the service of our late Soueraigne Lord Kinge Charles the First the summe of 40 s. per annum by quarterly payments for his more comfortable releife till further order And Sir Francis Drake barronet is desired to take care that the parishioners of the said parish may give him the like contribution.’
