fol. 75: Upon a certificate from Sir Francis Clerke, George Nowman, Robert Watson and George May Esq., JPs, and from Mr William Gooteer, showing that William Humfry was in the late King’s service at the siege of Colchester in 1648 under Gooteer’s command in Clerke’s regiment and was wounded in his leg and shoulder ‘to his greate greife and poverty’, it was ordered that Humfry be paid a pension of 20 s. a year.
