‘Upon the humble petition of William Fothergill of Wandall in the parish of Ravenstondaile setting forth that yo[u]r Pet[ition]r was A soldier and had the office of Ensigne for sev[er]all yeares und[e]r the command of Sir Phillip Musgrave knight and Bar[one]tt and suffered imprison[en]t and had the goods taken from him soe that your Pet[itione]r is now in great distress both by reason of old Age and other Infirmities. It is therefore ordered that twelve pence p[er] weeke be paid to the Pet[itione]r by the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Ravenstondaile.’
