'Upon the petition of William Ferne, a maimed soldier in the Parliament’s service, and certificate of his poor condition and disabilities, by reason of his wounds, to follow and labour to get his living made to the court by the inhabitants of Ansley [Anslow], it is ordered that the said William Ferne be from henceforth allowed the yearly pension of forty shillings by ten shillings a quarter; to be paid him by the treasurer of maimed soldiers.'
