A previous order made at the Epiphany sessions had granted Clarke 18 d. weekly from the Balsall Overseers of the Poor. However, it had been discovered that Clarke’s father-in-law [i. e. step-father], Edward Farre of Balsall, had a considerable estate in right of his wife who was Clarke’s mother. It was also discovered that Clarke’s grandmother Katherine Bradnock, widow, was ‘alsoe of good Ability’. Farre and Bradnock were each ordered to pay Clarke 6 d. per week, and the Overseers were to pay Clarke 6 d. per week as well, so he received a total of 18 d. per week, as before.
