Notes

Two duplicate entries in the order book for this day. The second reads: 'Upon the petition of Thomas Wise of Wolverhampton, showing that he, being a soldier unto the late King for many years, in his service received many wounds, whereby he is disenabled to get a livelihood for himself and family; and so is become an object of charity, as it is also verified unto this court by the certificate of sundry gentlemen of worth and quality remaining upon record. It is therefore ordered by the court that the said Thomas Wise be forthwith listed as one of the maimed soldiers for this county, and that he be henceforth paid by the treasurer for the paying of maimed soldiers the sum of four pounds by the year, to be paid unto him quarterly, until further order. And for his so doing this shall be the treasurer’s discharge.'
