This court being moved that Mr Thomas Wingfeild, who formerly served King Charles the Second of blessed memory both in England and beyond the seas as a soldier and officer, is now become very indigent, and incapable of supporting himself without contribution, this court granted him a pension of £8 a year, to be paid by the treasurer for mariners and maimed soldiers.
NOTE: The reference to serving Charles II ‘in England’ suggests that Wingfeild served in the Third Civil War of 1650-1.
