Notes

Whereas Thomas Whitlocke, a soldier under Lieutenant-Colonel Jackson at the beginning of the wars in this county, having his thigh broken, and being very sorely wounded besides, did lie at the house of Robert Ashton in Over Mathfield for the space of twelve weeks, during which time (as is affirmed by the said lieutenant-colonel) the said Ashton had no pay of him for his quarters and diet. It is therefore ordered that the said Ashton, being tenant to Mr. William Orme (a delinquent) shall be abated out of his rent, which he is to pay to the solicitors for sequestration for the said Whitlock’s diet at the rate of three shillings per week during the said twelve weeks. Agreed upon by Colonel Leigh, Lieutenant-Colonel Jackson, Captain Stone, and Captain Barbour.
