White's petition was accompanied by a certificate from Thomas Willoughby Esq., showing that White served in the regiment of horse of James, Earl of Northampton, in his own troop, and received several wounds which 'much disabled' him. White also had his house plundered many times and his cattle taken away. He had previously had a pension of £3 per annum but this had been taken off. The gratuity was ordered for the arrears of this, and the pension reinstated.
