‘Upon the humble peticon of Thomas Ward of Russendaile settinge forth thereby hath he hath beene A soldjer in his late Ma[jes]ties service and rec[eive]d many sad wounds and brusies whereby he is totally disabled. And it appearing that the said Thomas was born at Kendall & having been a vagrant for several yeares past. Ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Kendal to take care to mentaine the said Thomas and that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the p[ar]ish of Russendaile convey him hither.’
