ff. 714 & 714a: The committee orders that he be paid "in consideration for his son, who had been three several times out under several captains, and the last being Captain Dawge, under whom fallen sick, he was brought home from Colebrook at the charge of the said Thomas Lucy his father, who was fain to give a horse and man for the said service; then lay sick under his hands of the smallpox, of which he died; which charges as appears by his petition amounts to above the said sum of 30 s. Also, he being behind in his pay these eight weeks whilst he was sick of the said smallpox". Signed by Joseph Dalton, mayor, Gabriel Barber, William Carter, Thomas Meade, William Plomer, George Banastre, John Fowler. Thomas Lucy acknowledges receipt of 30 s. the same day.
