Notes
-
There was 'much debate' between the borough of Warwick and Balsall about where Ives was settled. Ives was born at Balsall and lived there until about four years ago, when he became a soldier in Warwick. He had two children in Warwick, and had 'now become very sicke & weake'. The court could not decide on Ives's settlement, so ordered that the borough of Warwick pay him the gratuity, and both Warwick and Balsall pay 10 d. weekly until the next general sessions. In the meantime Ives and his family were to continue in Balsall, and the Justices to enquire further as to his settlement.
