Upon the petition of Thomas Hodgson of Ingleton setting forth his loyalty in serving his majesty and his father of ever blessed memory as Lieutenant Cornet or Quarter Master of Horse ‘all the tyme of the Late vphappy rebellion’, that he was lame as a result of the many wounds that he received in his service and that he was reduced to a great necessity, having a wife and ‘a great Charge of Children’, it was ordered that he be admitted pensioner at £4 per annum,, firstly in the room of Leonard Hodgson of Dent deceased, and then as the vacancies arise within the wapentake of Staincliffe and Ewecrosse until his pension reach the said value of £4 per annum. The truth of his petition was certified to the court by several of the JPs within the wapentake of Staincliffe and Ewecrosse.
