Notes

The petition of Thomas Beckett, a poor lame soldier shows that by reason of his service in the King’s army in the late civil wars in England he received sore wounds and was therefore formerly admitted to a pension of 40 s. a year for three years, which time being now expired, and his indigency rather greater than less, the court, taking his condition into their consideration, has ordered the treasurer of the Marshalsea and maimed soldiers to continue payment of the said pension of 40 s. a year for three years longer, and also to pay him forthwith 20 s. for his present support and relief (his condition, being very low).
