Prior to the wars, Gooddale was apprenticed to Mr Tulley, a silk weaver from London, for the space of 5 years and 3 months. Served parliament under Sir John Merrick during the wars, and lost the use of his right eye. Presented a certificate signed by Mr Tulley, and another by Sergeant-Major Christopher Cooper. Gooddale's pension was to be paid to Mr Nathaniell Hole of Harford Bride, who was 'intrusted to see the same disposed of to the use and best benefitt of the peticioner’.
