f.286: John Vanhammack served in the army for over two years as corporal and quartermaster to the troop of Captain Edward Fiennes, in which time he performed very good service and in several battles received many sore wounds, of which, after much charge and expense, he died being much in arrears of pay and leaving his wife, Susanna Vanhammack with three small children in a very poor and lamentable condition. Ordered by the Earl of Essex that Susan Vanhammack should be paid the sum of £10, which is to be disbursed out the arrears due to her husband.
