f.129: The Earl of Essex states that Stephen Hull, a soldier under his command, was wounded at Brentford and lay long under the surgeon's hand to his great charge and has since died, leaving his wife, Susan Hull in very great want. He orders that Susan be paid the sum of 40 s. towards her relief. She acknowledges receipt on 19 August 1643.
