fol. 55: Sarah Rossiter, widow of Major John Rossiter, deceased, petitioned the court that her husband went out of the parish of Covent Garden to serve Charles I in the Civil Wars. In that service he received several wounds, whereof he died, leaving Sarah in great distress and want. She was also now unable able to work due to age. It was ordered that she receive a gratuity of forty shillings out of the surplusage of money collected for the maimed soldiers’ pensions.
