Gromett had been an officer in his Majesty’s army in the time of the late rebellion, but now become necessitous by reason of age and other imperfections. Recommended to the Justices by Robert, earl of Lindsey, Lord High Chamberlain and Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire. [A Lieutenant Samuell Gromett of Lincolnshire is listed in column 17 of the 1663 List, as having served in Lt-Col William Skipwith’s troop of Sir George Bunkley’s regiment of horse.]
