‘Upon a peticon pr[e]ferred to this Court by Robert Meane brother in law to one John Jay a Soldior deceased who had heretofore a pencon of three pounds a yeare granted unto him and paid him quarterly, And that the said Meane kept the said Jay in his sicknesse alonge tyme & was at charges to bury him which came to the Charge of Forty shillings or thereabouts, And that the quarterly pay was due before the death of the said Jay and prayed the sayd quarterly pay to be paid unto him whereupon this Court takinge the same into Consideracon desire the Treasurers of the upp[er] bench & Marshalsey to satisfy themselves of the death of the said Jay & then to pay the said Meane that which was due to the said Jay at his death.’
