His late father had a tenament in thr town. Petitioner was a trained soldier for the town of Alvanley. He refused to served under the array and was imprisoned in Halton Castle. After release, he took up arms for king and parliament under Col. Brooke for about three years. His father died in this time and the lease fell to Mr Davenport and thus into hands of sequestrators. his father's estate was taken from him by the Cavaliers. He had the tenements at rack from the sequestrators. Bench rules 'for the incouragement of such as have bin or heareafter shalbe sufferers as doe good service to the state', that he enjoys part of the tenement as part of his pay upon old rent.
