Upon the petition of Richard Townley of Skipton setting forth that he was in the late unhappy wars a soldier in the king’s service under the command of Colonel Markham, where he received several sounds and was now much impoverished, it was ordered that Townley be admitted a pensioner at the next General Sessions at Pontefract in the room of Christopher Braishawe, deceased.
