Notes

Pregion had been presented by the grand jury 8 October 1657. He appeared personally at this sessions to answer charges of following the trade of an ironmonger, submitting a certificate detailing his service to the Commonwealth during the late wars. The certificate certified that he had been a soldier for the Parliament and Commonwealth of England in the troop of Captain Peart [Original Peart], now commanded by Captain Hart [Theophilis Hart], in the regiment of Colonel Edward Rossiter, now the regiment of Colonel Philip Twistleton. He served in the regiment from 1644 until 1657. He did faithful service for Parliament and Commonwealth, both in England and Scotland, behaving himself well and honestly, never defecting to the late King’s party, nor ever cashiered for any misdemeanour. He was therefore legally allowed to follow a trade according to the late ordinance of the Lord Protector. Certificate signed by [Colonel] Philip Twistleton, Major Owen Cambridge, [Captain, later Major] Theophilis Hart, Verney Bourchier, and [Cornet] John Holt, witnessed by Samuell Morrice, Anthony Jackson, William Porter, William Bartholomew. The minutes further noted that Cornet John Holt had given testimony on oath in court at this present sessions.
