Notes
-
Noted that an order was made at Midsummer 1649 for the inhabitants of Knowle to pay Hancocks a weekly pension of 12 d., until a county maimed soldier's pension became available. This allowance was 'wholly in Arreares' and so the court ordered that if the Knowle Overseers of the Poor did not pay Hancocks's arrears, they were to be bound over 'to Answeare their Contempt of this order at the next sessions'. It was also ordered that the same allowance be continued to Hancocks until the next sessions and if Thomas Palmer (an existing pensioner) was dead, then Hancocks was to have Palmer's pension.
