'Uppon the presentment of severall lists by the Justices of the Peace for this county in pursuance of the order of the court made at the Generall Sessions of the peace held at Bridport the seventh day of October 1662 of all such indigent souldiers as shewed themselves loyall and faithfull to his late Majestie in the late wars & never deserted the sayd service, It is ordered by this court that the Treasurer for the westerne parte of the county doe for the present releife of the said souldiers & which are mencioned in a list hereunto annexed pay unto each of them the summe of 20 s. And this Court will hereafter take it into further consideracion how to settle pencions on them according to their demerits [sic] & as is directed in a late Act of Parliament.' The list was presented by Sir John Strode.
