He had been impressed in May 1651 for service in Ireland and 'was there wounded in the service of the Parliament'. He petitioned for a pension but was referred to Mr Lashbrooke of Ilminster 'who is desired to search the body of the said David, and to certify what wounds the said David hath received and for what consequence the same is, to th’end that this Court may bee sufficiently armed to determyne whether the same desire of the said Richard David bee fitt to bee graunted or not’.
