Cooper was awarded a pension of 40 s. per annum, to be paid quarterly. He had been a soldier for Parliament, under the command of Colonel Francis Thornhagh, and had received various wounds in his body at Willoughby fight (5 July 1648). He had lain under the surgeon’s hands for nine months and was unable to earn his living. His order was supported by certificates from Captain Richard Dolphin, Colonel Charles White and Major Chadwick, who were eyewitnesses to his wounding.
