"Whereas Richard Bettey of St Davyes was a souldier in Lyme Regis under the command of Colonell Thomas Ceely Governor thereof, who in the tyme of his service received many dangerous wounds and is now impotent. It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer … doe forthwith pay … 20 s. for his present maintenance & he to be farther considered when he shall procure a certificate under the hand … of a Commissionate officer."
