‘It is ordered that the parishioners of Wiston doe pay weekely unto Richard Basset, a maymed souldier and become impotent, the summe of 12 d. And that John Bishop of Bunckton doe weekely pay unto the sayd Richard Basset the weekely summe of 6 d. until he shal be able to worke, for that the sayd Basset, although an inhabitant of Wiston, being hired to serve in the armes of the said Bishop was thereby disabled’.
