‘Vpon the humble petition of Richard Arscott of Sampford Courtney in this County gentleman This Courte in Consideracion of the eminent Loyalty and greate Sufferings of the said Richard Arscott in his late Majesties Service in the late vnhappy warrs doth thinke fitt & order that Mr Gilbert Richards the now gouernour of the workhowse of this County doe out of the procedure of Two hundred pounds in money and other Stocke of a considerable value belonging to this county deposited or to be deposited in his hands & custody pay vnto ye said Mr Arscot the summe of tenn pounds per annum by quarterly payments vntill further order.’
