Notes

Fols 38-9: Edward Grey Esq. and Thomas Rayles Esq., two of the JPs for the county reported back that Bridgett Robinson and Rebecca (mistakenly written instead of Katherine) Codrington, widows, were fit persons to receive relief. The court therefore ordered that the Treasurers for Maimed soldiers within the several hundreds of the county report to the next Sessions what surplusage remains in their hands after the maimed soldiers have been paid their pensions and what the growing charge of the county towards the maimed soldiers’ relief is, so that it could be decided what to award the two widows out of the money remaining.
