Hodgson was a Royalist soldier. He received a 'grievous' wound in one of his arms in a skirmish at Nottingham a year ago (incident at Sansom Wood, Nottingham, 12 August 1659, during Booth’s Rising), which has caused him to lose the use of his arm. His pension was to continue until further notice.
