Notes

It was noted that Matthew Hall presented a petition to the court this day, supported by certificates. He took up arms as a soldier in the service of his late Majesty King Charles the First (of ever blessed memory), during which time he received divers wounds and maims. Because of this, and also by reason of his great suffering occasioned under the late usurped powers, he is now indigent and destitute of any competent subsistence or livelihood. The Court orders a pension of 20 s. per annum to be paid by the Treasurer for Maimed Soldiers for ‘these parts’ [Holland] until further notice. Order signed by a Mr Rushworth.
