The payment (44 s. + 5 s.) was made for relieving her wants, and to pay off the surgeon’s bill for her son. Her son served under Colonel Francis Thornhagh, and was ‘slain’ [i.e. mortally wounded] at Shelford [storming of Shelford House 3 November 1645]. The entry noted that she had earlier submitted a petition to the Committee, and the further pay of 5 s. was in response. Warrant signed by Nicholas Charlton and Gervase Lomax.
