Unfoliated: 'Fforasmuch as Informacon is given to this Court that Tho: Cowp[er] of of Cuerden husb (is gone) A soldier into Scotland in the Service of the Comonwealth of England & left behind him Alice his wife & three small Children to wit Katherin James & Thomas Cowp & noe meanes for their Relieffe & Mainteyace And that the sd Alice his wife is since dead by reason whereof the sd Children are in great danger to bee starved and Cast away unlesse some speedy Course bee taken for theire relieffe; It is therefore ordered by this Court that the Churchwardens & ovseers of the poore wthin the parish of Leyland shall forthwth upon notice hereof make pvicon for the manteynce and sustenacon of the sd Katherin James and Thomas Cowp Children of the sd Thomas Cowp in some good & Competent manner soe as they shall not beg nor starve or otherwise upon Complt made to any Justice of peace wthin this County A warrt shalbee awarded against them to take them bound to answer their Contempts at the next Sessions here to bee holden.'
