"Whereas this court is informed that John Rutley of Culliton was wounded in the service of the common wealth whereby hee is utterly disabled to follow his vocation for maintenance of himselfe & family, It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer … doe forthwith pay … 20 s. for his present releife & he to be further considered when hee shall bring a certificate under a Commisionate officers hand." [NB: A later note states that he was wounded in a fight against the Dutch.]
