Notes

Upon the petition of Captain John Rogers of Hereford for a pension to relieve him in his old age in respect of his services as a soldier for Charles I, the court reviewing his certificate and attestations ‘& other manifest demonstracons & p[r]offs’ was satisfied that he ‘hath constantly & faithfully served’ Charles I ‘dureing all the late warrs as a soldyer & also raised men att his owne charge”, for which he is due a pension being grown indigent and impoverished by his service. So the court, when they had weighed the charges resting on the county treasury, were to ascertain what pension shall be thought fit.
