‘The Treasurer for the maymed souldiers of this County is hereby ordered to pay vnto John Quick of Ugborough a souldier maymed in the service of our late Soueraigne Lord Kinge Charles the first the summe of Forty shillings per annum by quarterly payments till further order for his more comfortable releife And the parishioners of Ugborough aforesaid are to give him forty shillings per annum more towards his maintenance which the Justices of the peace of that division are desired to take care it may be paid accordingly And if it shall appeare vnto the said Justices that the said forty shillings per annum is not sufficient they are desired to order the said parishioners of the said parish to pay him as much more as they in their discretion shall thinke fitt & his necessities require.’
