"Whereas it appeareth … that John Kittoe of Plymouth was a souldier in the late warr in the service of ye common wealth & was at Mount Stamford wounded by the enemy in his head & was afterwards taken prisoner, his shoulder broken downe by the blow of a muskett, by meanes whereof he is altogeather deafe & void of understanding and not [able] to doe any thing to relieve himselfe. It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer … forthwith pay … forty shillings towards his present maintenance & to be farther considered when he shall procure a certificate under the hand … of a Commissionate officer."
